Scout requirements

  1. •At least a First Class Scout;

  2. •At least 13 years old;

  3. •Currently serving in a troop position of responsibility or have the skills and abilities to do so in the future.

  4. •Completed Scoutmaster lead training, Troop Leader Training.

Green Blaze, the National Youth Leadership Training Course of the Baltimore Area Council, is a two weekend outdoor experience for youth leaders in support of the Scoutmaster’s responsibility for the training of troop youth leaders. Built on the legacy of past JLT successes, the new course integrates the best of modern leadership theory with the traditional strengths of the Scouting experience. Through activities, presentations, challenges, discussions, and audio-visual support, NYLT participants will be engaged in a unified approach to leadership that will give them the skills and confidence to lead well.  This change aligns the youth training with the adult training that is taught in the Wood Badge of the 21st Century.
